Ghana Tourism Authority Set to Host 2024 National Tourism Awards

Accra, Ghana – 10th October 2024 – The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is set to host the highly anticipated National Tourism Awards to honor excellence in the tourism industry. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, the awards ceremony will take place on Friday, 25th October 2024, at the historic Christiansborg Castle, Osu.

In the lead-up to this national event, the GTA’s regional offices successfully organised Regional Tourism Awards across Ghana from September 13 to 28, 2024, celebrating local achievements and laying the foundation for the grand national celebration.

This year’s theme, “Celebrating Innovation and Recognising Excellence in Ghana’s Tourism Sector,” reflects the industry’s ongoing recovery and growth. The awards aim to celebrate individuals and organizations that have demonstrated exceptional commitment and innovation, contributing to the vibrant resurgence of Ghana’s tourism sector.

A total of 38 awards will be presented, including 29 Competitive Awards, 7 Honorary Awards, and 2 Special Mention Awards. Categories span across Accommodation facilities, Food and Beverage, and Entertainment establishments, Travel Trade Services, Media, Events, and Corporate Organisations. The Honorary Awards will acknowledge outstanding contributions to the growth of the tourism industry.

Since its inception in 1997, the National Tourism Awards has recognized and celebrated industry leaders and stakeholders who have played pivotal roles in the development of tourism in Ghana. The event aims to promote excellence, raise industry standards, encourage healthy competition, and position tourism as a key economic driver, further cementing Ghana’s reputation as a premier travel destination.

The prestigious ceremony will welcome around 350 distinguished guests, including industry practitioners, representatives from hotels, travel and tour agencies, car rental services, and other key players in the tourism value chain. The event will also be graced by Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, the Diplomatic Community, and leaders from various Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and the Business Community.
