As football fans across the globe turn their attention to the opening of the World Cup 2026 today, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), in collaboration with the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat, Tribe, and other partners, is set to commence its much-anticipated World Cup Watch Parties across the country.
The nationwide initiative, which seeks to bring together football enthusiasts, families, communities and visitors to share in the excitement of the tournament, begins today in the Greater Accra, Ashanti and Western Regions, where the first watch party events will be held to mark the official opening of the global football spectacle.
The GTA Watch Parties will create vibrant fan zones featuring giant screens, live entertainment, cultural performances, food exhibitions, tourism showcases and engaging activities designed to provide an unforgettable viewing experience for patrons while promoting domestic tourism and community engagement.
The remaining thirteen regions will join the nationwide celebration on 17th June 2026, when Ghana takes on Panama in a crucial group-stage encounter.
The simultaneous activation across all sixteen regions is expected to unite thousands of Ghanaians in support of the Black Stars while showcasing the country’s rich cultural heritage and hospitality.
The initiative forms part of the Ghana Tourism Authority’s commitment to leveraging major international events to promote tourism, stimulate local economic activity, support small businesses and strengthen social cohesion through shared national experiences.
Under the theme, “One Nation, One Dream, One Star,” the watch parties will provide an avenue for Ghanaians from all walks of life to come together, celebrate the nation’s football journey and rally behind the Black Stars on the world stage.
The Ghana Tourism Authority invites the general public, football fans, residents and visitors to participate in the watch parties and experience the excitement, entertainment and unity that the World Cup inspires.
