The Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Marketing and Special Duties at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Abeiku Aggrey Santana, has appealed to the Assin Apimanim Traditional Council to support President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for the tourism sector in the Assin Manso area.
This appeal of the deputy CEO was contained in his opening remarks during a courtesy call on the chiefs and elders of Assin Apimanim Traditional Council, to ask for their blessings and formally invite them to the grand durbar of PANAFEST and Emancipation celebration 2025 slated for July 26, 2025 at Cape Coast.
“Nananom, I bring you greetings from the President and on behalf of our Minster for Tourism Culture & Creative Arts, Hon. Mamaga Abla Dzifa Gomashie and the CEO of GTA Mrs Maame Efua Houadjeto, we are here to pay a courtesy call on the revered Traditional Authority here at the Assin Apimanim Traditional Council.We appreciate the warm welcome and the beautiful cultural display.”
“We believe that as custodians of Assin Manso Slave River and other heritage sites in this area, your presence at the durbar would be greatly valuable. So, I take this opportunity to formally invite the Nananom and the good people of the Assin Apimanim Traditional Council to the grand durbar of 2025 PANAFEST and Emancipation celebration in Cape Coast, which will have the President as the guest speaker”
According to the deputy CEO in charge of Marketing and Special Duties, the president’s vision for the tourism sector across the country, including the Assin Manso, aims to develop tourist sites, improve infrastructure, and increase attraction to the area, which will boost economic activities and create jobs for the youth.
Mr. Abeiku Aggrey Santana therefore appealed to the traditional council to make lands available for investors who are interested in setting up businesses in the Assin Manso area, for easy access, stressing that this will not only increase traffic of visitors to the tourist sites but increase economic activities in the area as well as creating jobs for the youth. This he stressed will allow Assin Mnaso area to benefit from the president’s grand agenda for the tourism sector.
“I would like to appeal to the Nananom to help the president John Dramani Mahama achieve his vision for the tourism sector in the Assin Manso area. The president has outlined his vision and demonstrated his readiness to develop all tourist sites and improve infrastructures to increase attraction to the area. This can only happen if the Nananom will be ready to make lands available for investments and projects.”
Nana Kofi Ntow, chief of Assin Atobiasi in his response on behalf of Barima Kwame Nkyi XIII the Paramount chief of Assin Apimanim Traditional Council, commended the delegation for the respect shown the Nananom while promising full representation during the grand durbar in Cape Coast. He assured of the readiness of the traditional council to collaborate with government in all fronts to ensure the Assin Manso and its environ benefitted from the president’s vision for the tourism sector.
“We as Nananom appreciate the fact that you are here today not alone but with delegation to invite us officially to the durbar, we assure you our presence because of the respect you have accorded us.”
“On the issue of lands for development, we are ready to collaborate with government to bring investment to our people. As you have rightly said, it will bring jobs and we are willing to sit with the president or the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts to discuss proposals that will bring development to Assin Manso. So, tell the president Nananom are ready for development, we are committed” Nana Kofi Ntow, chief of Assin Atobiasiassured.
Also part of the delegation was Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Development Company Professor Kobby Mensah. He highlighted some of the projects he has undertaken since taking office, adding that GTDC has rolled out some policies which will attract investments to the tourism sector. He urged all potential investors to interest in the agenda of the government for the tourism industry.
