HOTCATT GRADUATION 2025

GTA CEO Urges Graduates to Champion Professionalism and Sustainability at HOTCATT Graduation

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has called on graduates of the Hotel, Catering and Tourism Training Institute (HOTCATT) to uphold professionalism, innovation, and cultural pride as they step into the hospitality and tourism industry.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony held at the National Theatre on Thursday, 2nd October 2025, the CEO commended the students for their achievements and charged them to be “custodians of Ghana’s hospitality brand” as they enter the workforce.

This year’s event was held under the theme “Enhancing Skills for a Sustainable Hospitality Future” and also saw the launch of new training programmes under the TVET framework and the inauguration of the first HOTCATT Alumni Association.

“Graduation is more than a ceremony—it is a bridge. It validates the readiness of our students for the job market and signals to the industry that HOTCATT continues to produce skilled and competent professionals,” the CEO stated.

She emphasised that sustainability in tourism extends beyond environmental protection to building resilient systems, empowering people, and ensuring service delivery that reflects excellence and cultural pride.

The CEO highlighted the strong collaboration between HOTCATT and the Ghana Tourism Authority, noting that professional training has been central to the industry’s development since HOTCATT’s establishment under the then Ghana Tourism Board. She reaffirmed GTA’s commitment to rolling out short and on-demand courses across the regions to meet industry needs.

Reiterating the vision of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, she assured stakeholders that GTA will continue to enforce training and certification requirements across the sector, stressing that “this is not about creating barriers—it is about ensuring standards, building capacity, and positioning Ghana as a competitive, world-class destination.”

The event brought together the Hon. Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Dzifa Abla Gomashie, senior officials of GTA, industry stakeholders, tutors, families, and the graduating class.

In her closing remarks, the CEO congratulated the graduates and urged them to carry the HOTCATT name with dignity, reminding them that the future of Ghana’s tourism and hospitality industry rests on their shoulders.
