On July 8, 2024, the Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) for the Upper East Region, Mr. Wisdom Ahadzi, accompanied by his officers, paid a courtesy call to the Upper East Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, who formerly served as the Upper West Regional Minister.
Joining them were the President of the Regional House of Chiefs, who is also the Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional Area, Pe Dituudini Adiana Ayagitam III, and the institution’s registrar.
The visit focused on strengthening the existing collaboration between these institutions, in addition to preparing for the 2024 Regional Celebration of Emancipation Day on July 23rd at the World Heritage Site Pikworo Slave Camp in Paga-Nania.
During the meeting, the GTA expressed its gratitude to the Upper East Regional Coordinating Council (UERCC) for their ongoing commitment to promoting tourism in the region.
Meanwhile, the discussions also covered the upcoming Emancipation Day event at the Pikworo Slave Camp in Paga-Nania.
In response, the Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, assured that all necessary stakeholders would be engaged to ensure the event’s success. The meeting concluded with the GTA Director presenting souvenirs to the Minister as an expression of appreciation.
