The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has held a strategic engagement with Mr. Donavan S. West, Executive Director of the Office of Immigrant Affairs, City of Philadelphia, and leadership of TRIBE Culture Fest, to advance collaborative plans ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The meeting represents a continuation of discussions first initiated in Philadelphia, United States, in September this year, when the GTA CEO met with Mr. West as part of stakeholder engagements with the Ghanaian diaspora and city authorities in key host locations.
At the centre of the discussions was a tripartite collaboration between the Ghana Tourism Authority, TRIBE Culture Fest, and the City of Philadelphia, focused on the hosting of structured World Cup watch parties and cultural activations across the three host countries – the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
With Ghana scheduled to play in Philadelphia, the meeting underscored the urgency of early planning and coordination to ensure Philadelphia serves as a major hub for Ghana-focused fan engagement, cultural promotion, and destination marketing during the tournament.
TRIBE Culture Fest was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nana Gyimah, supported by Ms. Kristin Gyimah, who leads coordination efforts. Discussions covered programming concepts, operational planning, city-level support, diaspora mobilisation, and alignment with GTA’s international tourism and cultural promotion strategy.
The collaboration aims to leverage football as a powerful convening platform to project Ghana’s culture, creative economy, and tourism offerings, while deepening engagement with the diaspora and host city institutions.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of all parties to move beyond ad-hoc events toward well-structured, high-impact activations that deliver lasting value for Ghana’s tourism brand before, during, and after the 2026 World Cup.
This engagement forms part of GTA’s broader strategy to position Ghana early and deliberately within major global moments, working with credible partners and host cities to translate opportunity into measurable tourism and cultural impact.
