GTA Leadership Pays Courtesy Call on New British High Commissioner to Deepen Tourism Collaboration

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, together with the Deputy CEO (Marketing & Special Duties), Mr. Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, has paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed British High Commissioner to Ghana, Dr. Christian Rogg, to introduce the Authority’s leadership and explore new areas of partnership in strengthening Ghana–UK tourism relations.

The meeting, held at the British High Commission in Accra, focused on expanding cooperation in key sectors that drive Ghana’s tourism ecosystem. Discussions covered Culture, Heritage, Creative Arts, Fashion, Gastronomy, Conservation, Sports and Recreation, with both parties expressing strong interest in advancing mutually beneficial initiatives.

Dr. Rogg reaffirmed the British High Commission’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s tourism agenda, noting that the proposed areas of collaboration align with the UK’s thematic priorities and shared cultural interests.

The High Commissioner also extended a formal invitation to the GTA leadership to attend the King’s Birthday Party and highlighted the upcoming official visit of the Duke of Edinburgh, both scheduled for next week.

Participating in the meeting were senior officials of the High Commission, including Ryan Wilson, Director of Communications; Victoria Situ, Advisor for Forests & Climate; and Abigail Foatey, Communications Manager.

The courtesy call forms part of the GTA’s broader efforts to strengthen international partnerships, promote Ghana’s cultural assets, and enhance the country’s visibility as a competitive global tourism destination.
