GHANA TOURISM AUTHORITY CEO VISITS HOME OF LATE HIGHLIFE LEGEND DADDY LUMBA TO MOURN AND SIGN BOOK OF CONDOLENCE

Accra, Wednesday, 30th July 2025 – The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), *Madam Maame Efua Houadjeto*, on Wednesday paid a solemn visit to the residence of the late highlife music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, to commiserate with the family following the passing of the legendary musician.

Accompanied by officials of the Authority, the visit formed part of efforts by the GTA to honor the legacy of one of Ghana’s most celebrated cultural figures, whose contribution to highlife music has shaped Ghana’s musical identity and influenced generations.

During the visit, the CEO extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the Ghana Tourism Authority, and the entire creative arts and tourism fraternity. She also signed the book of condolence which has been opened at the family home to allow fans, dignitaries, and the general public to pay their last respects.

Madam Houadjeto praised Daddy Lumba for his immeasurable impact on Ghana’s music scene, describing him as “a true cultural icon whose artistry went beyond entertainment to become a pillar of national identity and pride.”

“The Ghana Tourism Authority deeply mourns the loss of Daddy Lumba. His music not only entertained but also told the story of Ghana—our struggles, our love, our triumphs. His voice, lyrics, and legacy will forever echo through our cultural landscape,” Madam Houadjeto remarked.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts to celebrate the life and works of the late superstar, including collaborations for a befitting send-off and future initiatives to preserve his legacy through tourism and heritage promotion.

The visit reflects the broader recognition of the role of arts and culture in national development and the importance of honoring those who have made significant contributions to Ghana’s global cultural footprint.

Daddy Lumba, a household name in Ghana and beyond, passed away earlier this month. He leaves behind a legacy of timeless music and a devoted fanbase spanning decades.
